Real Silk started with a vision over ten years ago with its founders Actor/Musician Ahmad Givens "Real" and Hair Specialist/product educator Jovanna Moss. Ahmad Givens has distinguished as a spokes model for hair care, hair products and hair styles. Whether in television, radio or magazine interviews, the question are always about Ahmad hair.
The Real Silk line of products is the brain child of Jovonna Morrison, a highly accomplished cosmetologist and hair designer. Having worked for a number of years in the hair care industry with a wide variety of hair textures and ethnicities, Jovonna understands consumers’ needs. After years of experimenting with various hair styles and products, Jovonna created her own line of shampoos and conditioners with an exclusive mixture of Argan Oil and other conditioners, which have never been used before. To fully appreciate the products’ performance, one has to use these products, as words alone cannot fully describe the textural benefits that they provide. Jovonna Moss is a successful accomplished entrepreneur in the Cosmetology Industry. She has utilized her skills and abilities beyond the salon extending them in to teaching, directing, developing and creating. Jovonna began her career as a Cosmetologist in 1998 at Pacific Beauty College. Shortly thereafter she began the Instructor Trainee Program at the very college that prepared her for the licensing exam. She completed course work at UCLA to receive her credentials as an instructor. Within seven years she subsequently earned the Director Certification.
Jovonna worked on the television show Real Chance of Love season 1 and 2 VH1. Legend Hunters Vh1, Jovonna has traveled to Fiji and Africa teaching Bridal Hair Make-up at up- scale Resorts.
Worked as a Master stylist for Simple Raw up- scale Hair Designers for ten years.
Jovonna’s work as an instructor has impacted the careers of many Cosmetologist and Make-up Artist today. For more than a decade Jovonna has worked with teams of students at numerous events to help them gain the experience necessary to become professionals that are making a positive impact in the industry today. A few of the events included: 2012 Pepperdine University Charity for Women of Color, 2011 “She Got The Look” Winner Photo Shoot, My Fair Wedding-Bravo Channel, Expo Latino Hair Show, Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor-Hair and Make-up, Pepperdine University Charity for Autism, Vive Lounge Photo Shoot, 2010 Academy Award Winner Yuko Coach Fantasy Hair Class, Maurice Stein Special Effects Make-up, Elgin Charles Look and Learn Class, worked on numerous events with Celebrity Makeup. Brazil USA November, 2012. Hairstylist to Fiji Olympic 2012 400 Dash Runner. Teach Japanese students to pass California State Board of Cosmetology Exam with a 98% passing rate.
Jovonna’s passion is helping those in underserved communities. She is the founder of the CHEER Organization whose mission is to promote the self empowerment and self esteem of young adolescent female youth in underserved communities by providing education and training in the field of cosmetology. Many projects and events have been fully funded by Jovonna, a few of them include: 2011 Christmas Makeovers-Underprivileged Families, Pepperdine University Charity for Autism, Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall Fashion Show and pamper parties. Central Juvenile Hall Beauty from the Inside Out Pageant, beauty makeovers for at risk youth. Camp Scott Detention Center Pamper Party. Motivational speaker for all Juvenile Detentions Centers and also worked with Chaka Chan to inspire minor at risk females.
